See DealThe Walther P1 is a direct descendant of the iconic P38 issued to a good chunk of the various armed forces of Nazi Germany in the lead up to and during the second world war. Previously, the German military’s sidearm needs had been filled by the Luger P.08 – and while the Luger was by no means a bad pistol by any means, in true German fashion it was a bit needlessly complicated – especially when you’re planning to outfit a military

gearing up to start a second global bar fight. Considering that sidearms were not a crucial part of the Third Reich’s military doctrine, it made sense to instead adopt a pistol that could be mass-produced at a cheaper per-unit cost than the Luger, as the P.08 required both significant labor hours and craftsmanship to create at the scale needed to sate the Wehrmacht’s demands.Walther P1 For Sale

Walther P1 Capacity
The Walther P1 is chambered in 9x19mm and feeds from the same single-stack magazines as the P38 on which the P1 is based. These magazines have a standard capacity of 8 rounds. The P1 is capable of firing all standard-pressure commercial and military loads, however it is not built to withstand the increased pressure from +P rounds.
Walther P1 Feature
The Walther P1 is a semi-automatic, aluminum-framed pistol that has a 4.9 inch barrel and operates on a short-recoil action with a tilting-block lockup identical to the Walther P38 and similar to the Beretta 92. This gun is fired by either a double- or single-action trigger pull with the hammer resetting into single-action when the slide is cycled. Its barrel is paired with windage-adjustable sights.
Walther P1 Ergonomics
The Walther P1 is identical in feel to Walther’s earlier P38 as the only difference is the new aluminum frame. The controls are set up for right-handed use with its slide-lock lever and slide-mounted safety both located on the left side of the gun. The magazine release is located underneath the grip behind the floor plate of the magazine in a traditionally-European setup.
Walther P1 Concealability
The Walther P1 only differs from the P38 in its weight, giving it identical overall dimensions of 8.5 inches in length, 5 inches in height and 1.35 inches for a width. The P1 is concealable, however its intended use as a military pistol implies that it is most easily retained in an open-carry setup. Further, the exposed hammer can cause discomfort in certain positions if concealed underneath clothing.
Walther P1 Fit-N-Finish
The Walther P1 is built with a steel slide, barrel and breech block that are blued to prevent damage from weather and wear while the aluminum frame is anodized to a matte black finish for the same purpose. The grips are made of polymer and feature a deep checkering to increase grip strength.
